Donald “Don” Gene Bedel, age 78, passed away on June 9th, 2025, at The Waters in Batesville, Indiana. Born May 18, 1947, in Batesville, Indiana, to Arthur and Marina (nee Enneking) Bedel. He married Judy (nee Stirn) Bedel on June 22, 1974, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Oldenburg, Indiana.
Don worked at Batesville Casket Company in the paint shop for 45 years before retiring. He was a member of the American Legion Post #271 in Batesville and was a long-time member on the Freudenfest Committee. Don served our country as a member of the US Army during the Vietnam War era. He was a life-long member at Holy Family Catholic Church.
Donald is survived by his wife Judy Bedel of Venice, FL; daughters Heather (Joseph) Neal of Aurora, IL and Michelle (Carmen) Catalioti of Venice, FL; brother Gary (Barb) Bedel of Batesville, IN; grandchildren Garrett and Stella Catalioti; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by both of his parents.
Visitation is Tuesday, June 17th, from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., at Holy Family Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 p.m., with Fr. John Barker OFM officiating. The burial will immediately follow at Holy Family Cemetery, with military graveside rites being conducted by the Ripley County Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #3183 and by the Prell-Bland American Legion Post #271 of Batesville.
