Dolores V. Scheele

Dolores V. Scheele, age 82 of Oldenburg, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, October 20, 2024, at The Waters of Batesville.  Born November 18, 1941, in Batesville, Indiana, she is the daughter of Elmer and Marie (Nee: Rahe) Barnhorst.  She married Lambert Scheele on June 30, 1962, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Oldenburg and he preceded her in death on November 30, 2017.

Dolores worked in the graphics department at the Hill-Rom Company in Batesville, before retiring and was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church and its Ladies Society.

Dolores loved to play bingo.  She and her sister Margie would often attend the Sunday bingos at St. Anthony Church in Morris.  She was caregiving to others, and she was a true “caregiver” that looked out for others and not her own self.  She always took great care of Lambert and her children as well.  Dolores never complained about anything, even though she had her own struggles in life.

Dolores loved to cook.  Her family especially looked forward to Sundays when she would prepare either roast beef or fried chicken as family favorites.  She loved to bake pies and make homemade noodles.  She also enjoyed playing cards with family and friends, especially 500.

Dolores was devout in her faith and always had a smile on her face.  Her grandchildren were the light of her life, and her family was very important to her.

She is survived by her daughter Roberta (Ken) Weisenbach of Batesville; sons Edward Scheele of Greencastle, Indiana and Michael (Sheri) Scheele of El Cajon, California; grandchildren Angela Weisenbach of Batesville, Christopher (Haley) Weisenbach of Lafayette, Indiana, Robert (Vanessa) Scheele of Greenwood, Indiana, and Jonathan Scheele of El Cajon, California; great granddaughter Eleanor Joy Weisenbach; brothers Clifford (Wilma) Barnhorst of Batesville and Ronald Barnhorst of Oldenburg; sisters Lorraine (Larry) Fullenkamp of Oldenburg and Rita (James) Glaub of Batesville; brother-in-law Irvin Kunkel of Batesville, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents and husband Lambert, she was preceded in death by her daughters Patricia and Theresa Scheele; sisters Marjorie Fischer and Esther Kunkel.

Visitation is Monday, October 28th, from 9:30 – 11:30 a.m., at the Weigel Funeral Home in Batesville.  A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 12:00 p.m., at Holy Family Catholic Church in Oldenburg, with Fr. John Barker OFM officiating.  The burial will be at the Holy Family Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Holy Family Cemetery Fund or Masses at the church.  For online condolences go to www.weigelfh.com.
