Distinguished veteran, daughter identified as Dearborn County murder victims

Aurora, In. — A decorated Vietnam veteran and his daughter have been identified as the victims of a double homicide in Dearborn County over the weekend. The bodies of Walter Bryant Jr., 78 and his live-in daughter Faith Craig, 58, were found Friday night during a welfare check in the 5000 block of Douglas Drive in Aurora.

Reports from the Indiana State Police say two people of interest have been questioned, one suspect is reportedly a family member. The suspects are awaiting extradition from Kentucky.

The cause of death has not been released.

The local veteran community is in shock. Bryant made Aurora home following a 21-year military career that included one tour during the Korean Conflict and two tours during the Vietnam War. He was the recipient of the Combat Infantryman’s Badge, two Purple Heart awards, at least on Bronze Star with Valor, the Army Commendation Medal and various marksmanship awards.
