(Decatur County, IN) – Police, fire and emergency management officials in Decatur County are urging residents to sign up for the CodeRed public notification message system.
It’s the same one that’s used in neighboring Ripley County, and directly provides severe weather warnings, and other emergency information to your mobile device.
Officials suggest the easiest way to register for CodeRed is by texting DECATURCO to 99411, which will take you to a website that includes a sign-up page.
The Nixle system currently used in Decatur County will stay active until March. Officials say the new system will be more efficient when the National Weather Service issues watches and warnings.
