DECATUR COUNTY, Ind. — Decatur County REMC has named Brett Abplanalp the new Chief Executive Officer of the locally owned electric cooperative.
Abplanalp will take the helm upon the retirement of long- time President/General Manager Don Schilling in March.
Abplanalp holds Engineering degrees from Purdue and Ball State Universities and has built a successful career in the corporate world leading and managing multi-million-dollar margin improvement engineering projects for a Fortune 500 company.
A dedicated family man and native of Greensburg, Abplanalp brings an honest and optimistic approach to leadership and an appreciation for the cooperative principles.
“I am honored to have the opportunity to lead this organization in the community that helped shape my childhood and early career,” said Abplanalp. “The cooperative principles align with my personal principles [which include fairness, honesty, and responsibility,] and I look forward to working together by utilizing my experience while listening and leveraging the board, employees and members to create an even stronger cooperative for our members and communities.”
