Decatur County REMC Election Results

2025 Annual Business Meeting of the Decatur County REMC held at Greensburg Elementary School

(Greensburg, IN) – Fried chicken, prize giveaways, and high-voltage safety demos weren’t the only highlights Friday night at Greensburg Elementary School. Decatur County REMC hosted its annual meeting, where cooperative members came together for food, fellowship—and to cast their votes in the annual Board of Directors election.

Members attended the event, enjoying a community dinner and live “live-line” demonstrations, but the main event of the evening was the announcement of election results across four board districts.

Here’s how the vote broke down:

  • District 1: Incumbent Suzanne (Swango) Parmer held her seat with 54.0% of the vote, narrowly edging out challenger Sam Shirk (46.0%).
  • District 2: Incumbent Carl Riedeman also retained his position with 55.3%, defeating Michael Dora (44.7%).
  • District 3: Jaimie Meyer ran unopposed and secured 100% of the vote.
  • District 6: In the night’s tightest race, Joseph Diekhoff earned a narrow victory with 50.4%, edging past Chase Schneider (49.6%).

The event underscored the cooperative’s commitment to member involvement and local leadership, with this year’s meeting offering both community engagement and democratic decision-making at its core.
