Deborah “Debbie Sue” Fox, 74, of Versailles passed away at 3:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 22, 2024 at St. Andrews Health Campus in Batesville. She was born in Batesville on April 13, 1950, the daughter of Arnold and Polly Gevedon Back. She was married to Bob Fox on May 24, 1969, Friday marking their 55th anniversary. Survivors besides her husband include her mother Polly Back Holbrook of Versailles; one daughter Polly Kellerman of Batesville; two brothers Reed Back of Versailles and Rob (Bridget) Back of Olean; three sisters Ilene Ryker of Cross Plains, Dee (Keith) Ertel of Napoleon, and Teresa Hosmer of Versailles. She was preceded in death by her father. Mrs. Fox was a 1968 graduate of South Ripley High School and she studied cosmetology at the Southeastern Career Center. Debbie was a well-known beautician in the Versailles community. Her first shop was the Petite Beauty Salon on the square in Versailles. She had also worked at the Odyssey Salon in Versailles as well as various shops in the community, during a career that spanned over 50 years. Debbie was a member of the Bear Creek Baptist Church in Friendship and the Delta Rho Chapter of Tri-Kappa. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 29 at 10:30 a.m. at the Bear Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Sherman Hughes officiating. Burial will be in the Tanglewood Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles and from 9:30 a.m. until time of services Wednesday at the church. Memorials may be given to the Ripley County Humane Society or the Tanglewood Cemetery in care of the funeral home.
