(Greensburg, IN) – Decatur County Memorial Hospital (DCMH) is proud to announce it has been selected to be featured on Empowered hosted by Meg Ryan, a nationally distributed public television segment, which highlights impactful stories and organizations making a difference in their communities.

The segment, which began airing in June 2025, features providers at DCMH, including Dr. Boersma, Dr. Fletcher, Dr. Hasson, and Dr. Slaughter, who share how DCMH helps patients detect, treat, and defeat breast cancer. It is airing on more than 150 public television stations across the country and will remain in rotation through 2026. Viewers can also see the segment appear as part of interstitial programming on well-known networks.

DCMH’s commitment to breast cancer care is made possible through community support and the generosity of donors to the Hospital Foundation of Decatur County’s Pink Ribbon Fund and Cancer Care Fund. These resources are directly reinvested to improve education, access to care, and treatment options for those who need it most, removing barriers and expanding access to life-saving screenings and support services, including transportation assistance for patients in need.

Since opening its doors in 1922, Decatur County Memorial Hospital has remained dedicated to the health and wellness of its community. As a not-for-profit Critical Access Hospital, DCMH continues to deliver high-quality, evidence-based care while advancing women’s health.

“When breast cancer is caught early, outcomes are often significantly better,” said Dr. Boersma. “At DCMH, we are committed to making early detection possible for everyone in our community. We offer screenings, diagnostics, education, treatment, and ongoing support to ensure our patients feel cared for and never alone.”

DCMH’s comprehensive approach ensures that individuals across the region have access to essential resources close to home. From removing financial and transportation barriers to helping patients navigate care with compassion and clarity, DCMH continues to invest in the health and well-being of the community it has served for more than a century. This national recognition reinforces the vital role DCMH plays in improving health outcomes for patients across the region.

“We’re honored to represent our community on a national stage and are incredibly proud of our providers’ ongoing leadership and dedication,” said Liz McCoy, Marketing & Communications Manager. “If you catch the segment, let us know, and help us spread the word.”
