David Dale Doles, 89, of Greensburg passed away on July 4, 2024. He was born on July 4, 1935 in Greensburg, the son of Robert A. and Cora Mae Metz Doles. Dave was a 1953 graduate of Greensburg High School. He served as a medic in the United States Army. On March 3, 1963 he married Rita Jo Pavy and together they had three children: Daniel, Barbara and Angela. David was a Lifetime Farmer and member of the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association. He was also a member of the Sandcreek Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and Church Treasurer for many years. Dave enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing and watching sporting events, especially Purdue and the Cincinnati Reds. He was known by many at the Farmer’s Market as the Popcorn Man for his delicious Homemade Caramel Popcorn.
Survivors include his: Wife, Rita Jo Doles; Children, Daniel Doles, Barbara (Jeff) Hatton and Angela (Mark) Sparrow; Grandchildren, Kelsey (Zach) Mosier, Taylor (Kyle) Moeller, Emma Hatton, Cora Sparrow and Hoyt Sparrow; Great Grandchildren, Kyren Mosier and Westin Moeller; and several Nieces and Nephews. He was preceded in death by his Parents and Brothers, Robert “Junior” Doles, Donald “Gene” Doles and William “Al” Doles.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, July 9, 2024 at the Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 10, 2024 at the Sandcreek Baptist Church at 10:00 am. Pastor Harold Carter will be officiating. Burial will follow at the Rossburg Cemetery.
