Dale L. Schuette, age 87, took the hand of the Lord and entered eternity on Friday, May 15, 2020, surrounded by his family.
Dale was born on December 15, 1932 to Edwin Schuette and Irma (Linkmeyer) Schuette in Milan, Indiana.
Dale grew up and worked in the family business, Schuette’s General Store, in Farmers Retreat, Indiana. He attended St. John’s Lutheran School in Farmers Retreat, through the 8th grade and graduated from Dillsboro High School in 1951.
After working briefly for Coca Cola, Dale served for two years in the United States Army. Following his discharge, he returned to the family business for several years. When Schuette’s General Store discontinued the huckster service, Dale took a position as assistant store manager at Mabley & Carew, Western Hills Plaza, Cincinnati, Ohio. In 1970, he became co-owner of Dearborn Mills in Aurora, Indiana, where he remained until his retirement.
Dale was a lifetime member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Farmers Retreat. He served in several positions, including church council and Sunday School Superintendent. His interests included travel, reading newspapers from across the country and the computer. Dale was an avid bowler and a car enthusiast. Most importantly, Dale loved his family. He was a dedicated family man and instilled in them his love of God and importance of religion.
Dale is survived by his loving wife of nearly 55 years, Janet (Kaffenberg) Schuette; children, Susan Schuette Coriell (Pat Booth) and Rob (Laura) Schuette; grandchildren, Kayleigh and Quinn Coriell of Queens, New York, and Meghan and Macie Schuette of Lawrenceburg, IN.; sister-in-law, Verna (Ohlmansiek) Schuette of Farmers Retreat; nieces, Bonnie Schuette and Barbara (Jerry) Grace and nephew, Bill (Cindy) Schuette, all of Farmers Retreat; 5 great-nieces, Bethany Ketchem, Emily Grace Wolf, Lacey Henson, Krissy Walston, Kelly Schuette Markgraf and their families; niece-by-proxy, Linda Kime Wilson (Buddy) and Laura Elizabeth.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Leo Schuette.
Friends will be received from 11:00-12:30 pm on Wednesday, May 20, 2020 at the St. John Lutheran Church, Farmers Retreat, Indiana.
Services will be held at the church, at 12:30 pm with Pastor Richard Kolaskey officiating.
Interment will follow in the St. John’s Lutheran Church Cemetery, Farmers Retreat, Indiana.
Dale’s confirmation verse was, “Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in Him; and He shall bring it to pass”.
Memorials may be made to St. John’s Cemetery Fund, the Lymphoma and Leukemia Society or the donor’s choice
