Connersville and Rushville advance gymnasts from sectional

Two EIAC schools competed in the Connersville Gymnastics Sectional Saturday. Connersville and Rushville placed third and fourth respectively behind champion Richmond and runner-up New Palestine. The Spartans qualified for regional as a team.

To qualify as an individual, the athlete must place in the top six in any single event or the all-around.

Connersville’s Jayci Allen qualified in every event: vault (6^th), bars (4^th), beam (4^th) and floor (3^rd). She also qualified in the all-around placing third. Teammate Kierra McKinney advanced on the bars (6^th). Rushville’s Nova Tackett moved on in the vault (6^th) and also in the all-around where she took sixth.

Tackett of the Lions along with Allen, McKinney and their Spartan teammates will compete in the regional this Friday, March 4th at 6 pm. According to Connersville AD Brent Duncan, the regional (hosted by Franklin Central) will now take place at the Gymnastics Company at 5646 Mutual Ln., Indianapolis, IN 46239. Admission is $8.
