Athletes who placed in the top eight qualified for Saturday’s championship heats.  Those who placed ninth through 16th will be in Saturday’s consolation groups.

The following are local athletes and relay teams who made the top eight:

In the 200 Medley Relay, it was Milan third, Batesville fourth, East Central fifth and Greensburg eighth.

For the 200 Freestyle, East Central’s Ray Krider and Kaden Cummins were third and fourth respectively.

In the 200 IM, the Trojans Skylar Cavins placed second, Milan’s Dylan Thomas was fourth and Batesville’s Benjamin Moster took seventh.

Moving to the 50 Free, EC’s Aden Ketchem was second and Nick Weber finished sixth while the Bulldogs William Johnson came in seventh.

For the 100 Fly, Skyler Cavins of East Central touched in fourth place while Batesville’s Ciaran Tyrer took eighth.

In the 100 Free, the Trojans Nick Weber came in third and William Johnson of the Bulldogs finished seventh.

For the lengthy 500 free, Kaden Cummins was the only championship heat local qualifier.  He was fourth.

The 200 Free relay saw Batesville tap the wall in third, East Central was fourth, Greensburg placed sixth and Oldenburg grabbed the final championship spot in eighth.

Flipping over to the 100 back, EC’s Ayden Ketchem and Ray Krider took fourth and sixth respectively.

In the 100 Breast, Milan’s Dylan Thomas was the only local to get a top seed for Saturday’s finals.

And finally in the 400 Free Relay, finishing fifth through eighth were East Central, Batesville, Milan and Greensburg.

Again the top 16 in each event will swim again on Saturday.  Divers will complete their entire sectional Saturday as well.

Undedited team reports:

South Ripley’s Stacy Eaglin: The boys did an excellent job last night! Many personal bests from all the swimmers!  Unfortunately the team did not have any individual finals, so they will now go to the polar plunge on Saturday to support. Only top 16 come back.

Evan Eaglin got 18th in 50 Free and 17th in 100 Butterfly. When you think about the time period you miss placement like this in swim, it can be as small as hundredths of a second. This was the case for Evan in the 100 Fly. Landon Saylor dropped time in the 100 Free. Jackson McAdams made a personal goal of swimming the 50 free under 35 sec and he achieved that last night and also took 5 sec off his 100 Free. Jamie Morante took almost 10 sec off his 100 free! As a team, they dropped 6 sec in the 200 Free relay.

It was a great season for Varsity!! Can’t wait to see what they achieve next year.

We thank the IHSAA for the results and coach Eaglin for her report.
