Clothing on heater cause of fire Thursday

Greensburg, IN — Greensburg Fire Department responded to a dispatch of smoke at Briarwood Apartments Thursday afternoon. When firemen arrived on the scene they discovered a small fire located in a bathroom. The fire was a result of clothing being on the baseboard heater in the room. The firemen were able to quickly put out the fire and helped remove smoke from the apartment. No injuries were reported from the incident.

Greensburg Fire Chief Nathan Stoermer would like to take this time to remind citizens to make sure that there are at least 3 feet of space between a heater and anything flammable. Heaters are a factor in 43% of home heating-related fires.
