(Dearborn County, IN) – INDOT contractors are scheduled to close State Road 46 over the Whitewater River in Dearborn County on or after Monday, June 9, to complete a bridge rehabilitation project.
The closure will take place on the State Road 46 truss bridge located between U.S. 52 and Barber Road.
State Road 46 is expected to reopen in late November, weather permitting.
During the closure, motorists should use the official detour route which follows U.S. 52 to I-74 to State Road 1.
Additional rehabilitation work will take place on S.R. 46 over the Whitewater River in spring 2026.
INDOT says it will provide additional information and updates as work progresses.
This work is part of a $10.6 million contract awarded to Beaty Construction in October 2024.
Overall contract work is expected to be complete in 2026.
INDOT reminds drivers to slow down, use extra caution, and avoid distractions when traveling in and near work zones.
All work is weather-dependent and schedules are subject to change.
