Claude Isaacs, Jr., 89

Claude Isaacs, Jr., 89, of Correct passed away at 9:20pm Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at the Manderley Health Care Center in Osgood. He was born at Lebanon in Marion County, Kentucky on July 23, 1927 the son of Claud Sr. and Emily Clark Isaacs. He was married to Lois Smith on June 26, 1950 and she preceded him in death on September 22, 2002. Survivors include three sons Greg (Mary) Hilton of New Marion, Daniel (Teresa) Isaacs of Versailles, and Grant Isaacs of Greensburg; five daughters Claudia Isaacs of Swanton, Ohio, Glenna Baugh of Correct, Sandra (Bill) Fletcher of Dupont, Melanie (Bill) Hoffman of Adams, and Ellen (Jerry) Lowe of Bloomington; 11 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter; one sister Judy Cutler of Lebanon. He was also preceded in death by his parents, his brothers George, Eugene, and Charles Isaacs, and his sisters Lydia Higdon, Sarah Spaulding, and Nancy Agan. Mr. Isaacs was an Army Air Force veteran of WWII where he served as a supply technician with the 851st, rising to the rank of Corporal. For service to his country Claud received the WWII Victory Medal. In civilian life he owned and operated Claud’s Body Shop in Correct for over 40 years. In his younger years he had worked at Chevrolet and also at Top and Body both in Indianapolis. He also worked at Abe’s Body Shop in Madison and for Henry Pulley in Versailles. Claud was an avid bird hunter and also belonged to the Brush Creek Conservation Club at Butlerville where he enjoyed trap shooting. He competed in the national trap shoot at Vandalia, Ohio and was once featured on ESPN. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 4th at 2pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Pastor Tim Heim of the Shelby Christian Church officiating. Burial will be in the Grandview Memorial Garden near Madison. Visitation will be Friday from 5pm to 8pm. Memorials may be given to Rescue 69 in care of the funeral home.
