
He was born on February 10, 1940, to John F. Steele and Louisa E. (née Sterling) Steele.
Charles dedicated his life to serving others, both professionally and spiritually. He worked as a financial planner and insurance agent and faithfully served Jesus Christ for over 50 years.
He was a devoted member of the Manchester Church of Christ and the Holmes Hill Church of Christ. As a founding member of the Manchester Church of Christ, Charles, alongside his beloved wife Lyvia, served the congregation for more than 27 years.
Charles was inducted into the Indiana Music Hall of Fame. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and mentoring youth through leadership activities at Holmes Hill Church of Christ. In addition, he served as treasurer for the Whitewater Christian Evangelizing Fellowship.
Charles is survived by his sons: John Steele of Lawrenceburg, Indiana; Philip (Julie) Steele of Independence, Kentucky; Travis D. (Carol) Bowlin of Burlington, Kentucky; and Timmy Steele. He was a proud grandfather to Bradley, Travis II, Austyn, Mandie, Hope, JT, Amber, Cody, Nicky, and Brandon, and a great-grandfather to 16 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John F. and Louisa E. Steele; his beloved wife, Lyvia (née Story) Steele; his son, Rodney Titus Steele; and his sister, Joan Fehling.
Friends will be received on Thursday, April 23, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. at Holmes Hill Church of Christ, Old State Road 56, Aurora, Indiana, with Minister Aaron Snelling officiating.
Interment will follow at River View Cemetery in Aurora, Indiana.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holmes Hill Church of Christ or the Whitewater Christian Evangelizing Fellowship.
