Charles (Chuck) Emsweller, 67

Chuck was born in Greensburg, IN, on September 17, 1955, to Charles E. and Wanda (Hatton) Emsweller. He married Brenda Lecher on August 3, 1974. They created a family where his favorite title was Dad until he was later promoted to Papaw.
Chuck was a dedicated public servant who spent more than 20 years in state and local government positions. Before that, he was a volunteer firefighter and active in the Jaycees, and honored as a JCI Senator #37000. He was known for his collections of old, greasy oilfield engines and substantially less greasy classic cars including his prized Studebakers. Chuck was also a founding member of the esteemed Briar Patch, Shooting, Angling and Liars Club.
Chuck is survived by his wife, his father, one son; Charles (Chad) E. (Jennifer) Emsweller of Evansville, one daughter: Ashley (Adam) Hungate of St. Paul, two brothers; Rick (Connie) Emsweller of Greensburg and Scott (Tina) Emsweller of Fairland, two sisters; Nancy (Jim) Fletcher and Becky (Greg) Gault both of Greensburg, six grandchildren; Eddie, Joey, Ellie and Paul Hungate, and Charlie and Julia Emsweller. He was preceded in death by his mother and one brother; David (Susan) Emsweller of Avon.
Chuck lived by the Walter Reuther quote “There is no greater calling than to serve your fellow men. There is no greater contribution than to help the weak. There is no greater satisfaction than to have done it well.” He met that calling well.
