(Batesville, IN) – Southeastern Indiana Voices for Children held its annual dinner and auction Tuesday night at Romweber Place in Batesville.
Diane Bohman of Osgood is a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for children and was named the “Inspirational Advocate. ”
Bohman has advocated for 13 children in the community over the last six years.
SEI Voices for Children Board President Melissa Tucker introduced her fellow board members; Executive Director Melissa Herzner recognized the CASA volunteers., and the guest speaker was Indiana GAL/CASA State Director Rae Feller, who remarked that SEI has a premier program in the state.
“Melissa’s an excellent director, for one thing. The community really, really supports the program, you have an excellent judge in (Ripley Circuit Court) Judge (Ryan) King, you have a non-profit here with the board really active and engaged with the program,” Feller told WRBI. “This program serves 100 percent of the children, they’re out seeing the kids on a regular basis and spending a lot of face-to-face time with their kids.”
In addition to celebrating the work of everyone involved with the agency, the aim of the event was to raise funds through the silent auction plus awareness that will continue to enable SEI Voices for Children staff to recruit, train, educate and support CASA volunteers to provide direct support for child victims.
An estimated $30,000 was raised Tuesday in support of the agency.
The theme of this year’s event was “Where Troubles Melt Like Lemon Drops.”
