C. Rosemary McFarland, 92

C. Rosemary McFarland, 92, died peacefully in her home in Sun City West, AZ on Sunday, January 24, 2016 with her care-givers, daughter Kathy and son-in-law Richard, by her side.
Rosemary was born on June 17, 1923 in Shelbyville, Indiana to Phil and Prudence Navarra, who proceeded her in death. She married Robert H McFarland on June 14, 1947, who died in December, 2007. Also proceeding her in death were siblings, Barbara, Phil Navarra, Jr. and Teresa Wenning; daughter-in-law, Sandy Jacobson (Pat) McFarland.
Rosie was a member of St. Mary’s Church, Greensburg, and was the first female Eucharistic Minister there, a lector, and member of the Liturgy Planning Team. She was an active member of The St. Lawrence Auxiliary, Daughters of Isabella, and the Linger Awhile Home Ec. Club. She graduated from Greensburg High School in 1940 and received her RN license through St. Vincent’s Hospital, Indianapolis. As a nurse at Decatur County Memorial Hospital, she founded the Children’s Toy Chest. She served as a Girl Scout Leader and spent her days lovingly caring for her nine children. She enjoyed reading, playing cards with family, needle work, and cooking.
Rosemary is survived by her children, Natalie (Alan) Armstrong, Indianapolis; Don (Carol) McFarland, Greensburg; Pat McFarland, Greenwood; Kathy (Richard) Whitmore, Sun City West, AZ; Prudence McFarland, Greensburg; Phil McFarland, Roanoke, VA; Tim McFarland, Greensburg; Anita (Dave) Kendall, Millhousen; Karen (Charlie) Hardesty, Beech Grove; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sisters Margherita Meyer, Rushville; Rita (Bob) Rust, Greensburg; many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will gather at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home to pray the rosary. Visitation will follow the rosary until 8:00 p.m. at the Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 29, 2016 at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greensburg with Rev. John Meyer officiating.
Interment will be held in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the St. Mary’s Church Building Fund.
