The Batesville Boy’s Varsity tennis team defeated Rushville 5-0 to win the team EIAC title. Batesville has went a perfect 14-0 in EIAC matches since the conference expanded to eight teams last year.
#1 Singles- Beau Brown defeated Will Hogsett 6-0, 6-2
#2 Singles- Blake Walsman defeated Adam Martin 6-0, 6-1
#3 Singles- Ben Schwettman defeated Cole Carmony 6-0, 6-2
#1 Doubles- Matthew Taylor and Spencer Rose defeated Brandon Slaton and Zach Hoeing 6-2, 6-0
#2 Doubles- Harsh Patel and Paul Ritter defeated Michael St. John and AJ Rice 6-2, 6-0
In JV action, Batesville won 3-0. Brandon Laker and Lane Westerfeld were both winners in singles. The doubles teams of Jonathan Kunkel/Will Harmeyer and Mitchell Esser/Sam Esser were also winners.
The varsity is now 10-3 on the season (7-0 in the EIAC) while the JV is 7-3. The varsity will play in the Whiteland Invitational on Saturday.
