Greensburg, IN – The Lady Bulldogs made the short trip up I-74 on Saturday night to take on the Lady Chargers of North Decatur.
The two teams battled early, with North Decatur holding a 5-point lead heading into the 2nd quarter. Batesville cut into that lead right before halftime, trailing by just 2, halftime score, 25-23.
The second half was much of the same, the two times fighting for an edge on their opponent. Adjustments were made on both sides, with the Chargers desperately trying to pull away, but the Bulldogs wouldn’t go away. North Decatur held onto a 4-point lead heading into the fourth.
In the fourth, the Bulldogs continued to battle behind Maddie Haskamp’s team high 16 points and 11 rebounds, posting a double-double. Sophie Gessell also contributed 8 points, 3 assists, and 1 block. Lydia Haskamp had a solid performance to keep Batesville within striking distance, posting a near double-double with 8 points and 7 rebounds. The Lady Chargers came out on top of this tightly contested matchup, final score 52-47, handing the Bulldogs their 2nd loss of the young season. The Bulldogs fall to 2-2 and have the week off until they host South Ripley in a possible precursor to the Ripley County Tournament on Saturday.
