Bulldogs Hold Off Jets For Victory

The Batesville Bulldogs claimed a 9-6 victory on Tuesday, despite a big push by The Hauser Jets in the fifth inning. The Bulldogs were ahead 7-0 at one point but were able to stop the comeback late in the game.

Bats blistered as the Bulldogs collected 11 hits and Hauser tallied five in the high-scoring game.

The Bulldogs opened up scoring in the first inning by scoring three runs.

Batesville tallied three more runs in the second inning. Batesville’s big inning was driven by singles by Trey Peters and Jack Grunkemeyer and a double by Max Baumer.

Grunkemeyer got the win for the Bulldogs. The righty lasted two innings, allowing one hit and one run while walking zero. Peters entered the game out of the bullpen in the sixth and closed out the game in relief, earning the save.

West took the loss for The Jets. He lasted four innings, allowing eight hits and seven runs while striking out two.

Jacob Meer started the game for the Bulldogs. Meer went two innings, allowing zero runs on zero hits and striking out two.

Baumer led the Bulldogs with three hits in five at-bats.

The win takes the Bulldogs to 14-4 overall. The 3A #8 ranked Bulldogs look to continue their winning ways this Thursday v. Rushville.
