BROOKVILLE – The average Brookville water bill could increase by more than 22 percent if Council approves a recommendation by a financial group.
A representative from Reedy Financial Group was at a recent meeting recommending a 22.46 percent hike in water rates and a 2.39 percent increase for wastewater, the Brookville American-Democrat reported.
Council was told the rate increase would help balance the utilities budget for the next five years. The proposed rate could assist in paying for all capital projects the utilities department may undertake in five years.
According to the newspaper, the Reedy representative said the rates will have to be higher than proposed iF council would like more revenue after five years.
Brookville Town Council is considering the proposal and may meet with an attorney before making a decision.
