Brookville man charged in connection with deadly head-on crash on U.S. 52

BROOKVILLE, IN — A Brookville man has been charged on several felony counts in connection with a deadly wreck on July 7 on U.S. 52 near Yellow Bank Road.

Franklin County Sheriff Pete Cates and Prosecutor Chris Huerkamp announced that 43-year-old Joshua Trammell has been charged with Operating a Vehicle Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance Causing Death, a Level 4 Felony; Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated Causing Death, a Level 4 Felony; Reckless Homicide, a Level 5 Felony; Illegal Possession of a Syringe, a Level 6 Felony; and Habitual Offender, sentence enhancement.

According to the Probable Cause Affidavit signed by Franklin County Sheriff’s Deputy Jason Lovins, Trammell was driving left of center when his pickup truck collided head-on with a car driven by 46-year-old Virginia “Jenni” Fasbinder of Brookville.

Fasbinder was pronounced dead at the scene while Trammel was taken by ambulance to Margaret Mary Health for treatment of serious injuries.

While at the hospital emergency room, investigators obtained a blood sample from Trammell, which allegedly indicated illegal substances in his system.

Investigators say the completed sample analysis indicated both amphetamine and methamphetamine were in Trammel’s sample, and that he was under the influence at the time of the fatal crash.

Trammell was located Thursday morning and taken into custody by Franklin County Sheriff’s deputies.

No court dates have been announced at this time.
