Brookville firefighters to conduct grain bin training Wednesday evening

BROOKVILLE, IN — The Brookville Fire Department will conduct grain bin rescue training Wednesday, April 20 at 6 pm at Sulina Farms.

Fire officials say there will be several pieces of the department’s firefighting apparatus at the site this evening and wanted to let people know about the training to avoid causing concern in the community.

The training comes on the heels of a pair of recent successful grain bin rescues in Decatur and Jennings counties.

A Decatur County farmer was rescued after he became partially submerged in corn inside a bin on East County Road 400 South in mid-March.

About a week later, a farmer was rescued from a grain bin in northeastern Jennings County with the help of the Letts, Westport, and Greensburg firefighters, along with a vacuum truck from the City of Greensburg’s Wastewater Department.

Sulina Farms is located on US 52 just east of Brookville.
