Brookville Applying for Owner Occupied Rehab Grant

(Brookville, IN) – The Town of Brookville is working with the Southeastern Indiana Regional Planning Commission (SIRPC) on a grant application for the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs’ (OCRA) Owner-Occupied Rehabilitation (OOR) program.

If funded, the program will assist low-to-moderate income residents with repairs to their homes.

Items eligible for repairs are roofing, HVAC replacement, lighting and electrical updates, water heater replacement, and ADA accessibility up to the home’s threshold.

The repairs are free to those who qualify.

The program is open to those who live in the Brookville town limits and reside in a single-family, owner-occupied home, which must be insured and cannot be in a floodplain. Manufactured homes must be on permanent foundations.

In order for the grant application to be competitive, SIRPC must show that Brookville residents are in favor of having this program in their community through letters of support and photos of needed repairs.

A public hearing is scheduled for Monday, August 4 at 7 p.m. at the Brookville Municipal Building, located at 405 E. 7th Street.

If you are interested in applying for the program, please contact Jessica Rayburn or Patty Jackson at the SIRPC in Versailles by calling (812) 689-5505 or emailing jessica.rayburn@sirpc.org or patty.jackson@sirpc.org.
