Bret Lee Dulin

Bret L. Dulin, age 56 of Oldenburg, Indiana passed away unexpectedly at his residence on Tuesday, April 14, 2026.  Born July 15, 1969, in Indianapolis, Indiana, he is the son of John Dulin and Sunnya (Nee: Gerdt) Grassman.

Bret was a graduate of Batesville High School and worked in the Maintenance Department at the Horseshoe Casino in Shelbyville, Indiana for the past 12 years. He was an active member of the Oldenburg Eagle Fire Company and the Tri Township Conservation Club.

An avid fan of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway & all things auto racing, Bret loved the month of May. He liked attending fishing, boat, truck, RV, aviation, and many other types of hobby shows, festivals, and flea markets. Bret was particularly proud of time spent volunteering. He enjoyed taking rides in his truck, going to the Conservation Club, and posting live videos of events he attended. Spending time & holidays, visiting, & eating out with his friends and family in and around Batesville and  Oldenburg, Indianapolis, and Texas were just a few more of his favorite activities. Bret was kind, friendly, and could—and did—talk to anyone and everyone.

Bret is survived by his mother Sunnya (Bertus) Grassman of Batesville, Indiana and father John (Joyce) Dulin of Zionsville, Indiana; brother Anthony (Angela) Dulin of Round Rock, Texas; niece Kennedy Dulin and nephew Peyton Dulin.

Bret was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Elmer and Mildred Gerdt and paternal grandparents Roy and Frances Dulin.

Visitation is Saturday, April 18th, from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m., at Weigel Funeral Home in Batesville.  A funeral service will follow at 12 p.m., at the funeral home, with Fr. John Barker OFM officiating.  The burial will be held at Washington Park East Cemetery in Indianapolis.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Tri Township Conservation Club or to the Oldenburg Eagle Fire Company.  For online condolences, please go to www.weigelfh.com.
