Every family has a cornerstone—Brenda Lou (Grigsby) Simon was that for hers. On Friday evening, Brenda passed away in Indianapolis, surrounded by those she loved most.
Brenda was born on May 21, 1965, in Batesville, Indiana, the daughter of James and Helen Grigsby. She was raised in Delaware, Indiana, alongside her brothers and sister, and graduated from Jac-Cen-Del High School with the Class of 1983.
Brenda remained dedicated to her community and her roots. On April 4, 1992, she married her high school sweetheart, Wayne Simon. Her faith was an important part of her life—she was raised in the Delaware Community Church and remained a lifelong member.
Family was always Brenda’s top priority. She was the devoted caregiver to her parents and ensured her children were always well taken care of. She took great pride in being a homemaker. Brenda enjoyed visiting yard sales, playing bingo and euchre competitively, and trying her luck at the casino. She also loved watching crime shows and reality TV, especially Big Brother.
When her grandchildren came into her life, Brenda’s love only grew. She found immense joy in making Christmas magical for them and being a present and loving grandmother.
Brenda will be deeply missed by her loving husband, Wayne Simon; children: Shawn (Sam) Ison, DJ (Brittany) Simon, Logan (Hannah) Simon, Jacob Simon, and Alisha McCreary; parents James and Helen Grigsby; brother Terry (Donna) Grigsby; sister Becky Coleman; and grandchildren Aubree, Trevor, Peyton, Grayson, Liam, and Callie.
She was preceded in death by her brother Jeff Grigsby and her in-laws, Donald and Ola Vae Simon.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 17, 2025, from 3:00 to 6:00 PM at Neal’s Funeral Home in Osgood. Funeral services will follow at 6:00 PM with Pastor Tim Osborne officiating.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Grigsby Family Cemetery, in care of the funeral home. Online condolences can be shared at nealsfuneralhome.net.
