Here are some boys high school basketball recaps from February 11-12. There may be updates, so please check back.
East Central was a 41-32 winner over Batesville. It was a tight game throughout. The Trojans outscored the Bulldogs 14-7 in the fourth to win by nine. The St. Leon lads also had and 11-5 advantage at the line.
Ryan Selhorst of EC had 13 points and five rebounds. Teammate Jadyn Dennis put up eight points, four boards, and four assists.
Brendan Heiser’s 14 points and four caroms led the Bulldogs. Teammate Cole Pride had a team-best five rebounds and chipped in five points.
Heiser was also Batesville’s leading scoring in the JV game in which the Trojans also won 37-27. Fellow Bulldog reserve Conner Drake followed with five points.
The Franklin County varsity’s 15-game winning streak was snapped by Greenfield-Central 71-59. It was a six-point game entering the fourth quarter. The Cougars hit 66 percent from the floor including 8-of-13 from distance. G-C also made 13-of-14 free throws.
In only the third loss of the season for the Wildcats, Chad Cox had 16 points and seven assists, Bridger Bolos recorded 11 points and six dishes, while Brant Ertel distributed five assists and scored 10.
The Brookville boys bounced back to beat Central Christian 49-42. The Cats held a two-point edge entering the final quarter and won the board battle by eight.
Cox tallied 22 points, six rebounds and six assists in this one. Ertel followed with nine points and four caroms.
The North Decatur varsity pounded the Patriots of Union County 48-27. ND doubled up UC in the second half 34-17.
The Chargers got 12 points for Kaden Muckerheide and nine each from Blake Spears, Carson Parmer and Conner Linkmeyer.
The North Decatur JV also beat the Liberty boys 48-22. Cooper Parmer had 10 points for the ND reserves. Teammate Jack Koehne canned three triples for nine points.
The North Decatur varsity was a 45-36 winner over Knightstown to get a double-win weekend for the first time in two seasons.
Muckerheide hit 8-of-9 free throws on his way to 15 points. Lance Nobbe notched 12.
The Charger JV lost 39-38 to the Panthers. Cooper Parmer posted 11 points and Brady Mauer had eight in the one-point defeat.
The Greensburg varsity mauled Madison 67-35.
Colin Comer had 21 points to lead the Pirates. Ky Dyer scored 13 points and carded four assists, Addyson Barnes-Pettit netted 11 while Brenden Stanley logged nine rebounds and chipped in four points.
South Decatur’s varsity bested Waldron 75-65.
The Cougars Hunter Johnson put up 26, Jacob Scruggs scored 23, Dale Peters picked up 11 and Evan Wullenweber added nine. Johnson was a perfect 12-of-12 from the line and also secured a dozen rebounds. Peters pulled down six boards.
Jac-Cen-Del’s varsity handled Hauser 78-54.
Caleb Simon had 17 points to headline the Eagle scoring. Wyatt Day, Ryan Wilson and Justin Swinney all recorded 13, Matt Dickman scored 12 while Devin Grieshop added 10.
The Jac reserves got by the Jets 34-33 with Corbin and Caleb White scoring seven and six points respectively.
