(Statewide) – The Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles is out with a warning about a new text‑message scam from someone pretending to be from the agency.
The messages include links that look like official state web addresses, but they actually lead to false sites designed to mimic the real BMV, and even generate bogus receipts and confirmation numbers.
Indiana BMV says it will never ask you to pay fees through a link sent by text, nor does it send texts about outstanding penalties.
If you receive one of these messages, you’re urged to delete it, avoid clicking any links, and report it.
