Billy G. Ison

 

Billy G. Ison, age 89, of Mt. Carmel, Indiana, passed into the arms of Jesus on Sunday, November 26, 2017 at the Knolls of Oxford, Ohio.  Born on February 27, 1928 in Letcher County, Kentucky, he was the son of Dee and Virgie Caudill Ison and the stepson of Jonah Hogg.  Billy married Jean Ison on May 22, 1948 in Whitesburg, Kentucky and she preceded him in death on December 6, 2013.  Bill was a full-time farmer and was employed by Fisher Body in Fairfield until his retirement in 1980.  He had a passion for the Lord and was a devout servant.  Billy was very active in his church, Little Memory Old Regular Baptist Church in Sunman for over 54 years and served as a deacon, clerk, treasurer, and over-seer of the church cemetery.  He also served as President of the Mt. Carmel Cemetery Board.   Billy loved farming, fishing, telling stories, reading his Bible, going to church, and spending time with family and friends.

 

Bill’s memory will be cherished by many including three sons, Steve Ison of Brookville, Lambert (Janet) Ison of West Harrison, and Robert Ison of Scipio; two daughters, Beverly Ison of Euless, TX, and Marilyn Ramey of West Alexandria, OH; two sisters, Ann Calihan of Harrison, OH, and Lavonne Halburt of Fayetteville, NC; one brother, Hubert Caudill of Stokesdale, NC; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.  Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Sarah Louise Ison; a great-grandchild, Trevor Ison; a daughter-in-law, Haroline Ison, and several brothers, sisters and other family members.

 

Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday, November 28, 2017 from 4 until 8 p.m. at Cook Rosenberger Funeral Home, 929 Main Street, Brookville.  Brother Charlie Combs and Brother Bill Halcomb will officiate the funeral services on Wednesday at 11 a.m. and burial will follow in Mt. Carmel cemetery.
