BHS School Records Get Broken in Lawrenceburg Meet

What an incredible and fun night it was at the 5-way meet at Lawrenceburg.  The weather was pretty perfect for a track meet as the athletes finally got to compete in warmer conditions and almost zero wind.  Something we haven’t gotten to experience yet this season.  The Bulldogs took full advantage of this as there were two school records broken tonight along with 17 events taking first place finishes and 9 runner-up finishes.  This all led to both the boys and girls winning the meet and both scoring 111 points.  On the boys side, it was Jennings County coming in 2nd outscoring Switzerland County by 8, 78-70. Lawrenceburg placed 4th with 52 points and Rising Sun was 5th with 1.  For the girls, Switzerland County took the 2nd spot at 85 points  with Jennings County just ahead of Lawrenceburg 58-49.5 and Rising Sun in 5th with 8.5.
But some of the fun came in the middle of the meet when the boys 4 x 100m relay ran an awesome race to break the school record, beating the old school record held back in 2011 by Trevor Tucker, Tyler Leising, Conner Jeffers and Chris Giesting with a time of 43.91. Tonight, it was the team of James Rowland, Brock Mahon, Noah Davis and Chris Stenger crossing the finish line at 43.80!  Way to go guys!  Then towards the end of the meet, Jake Chapman and Jennings County’s Kraedyn Young battled it out in the 800m run, with Kraedyn just nudging ahead of Jake by .3 of a second with amazing times of 1:53.37 to 1:53.67…it was an incredible race and finish by both young men.  This time by Jake, broke the second school record for the night, which was held by both Hayden Merkel (2012) and Adam Moster who tied it in 2019 at 1:55.02.  This also ranks Jake as the 2nd fastest time in the 800m run posted so far this season! Congratulations Jake!

Those contributing to that 111 point score and placing first were:
Brock Mahon-discus (156’9″), shot put (46’4″) and the 4 x 100m relay (43.80)
