BHS Girls Take 1st at Raver Relays

The Batesville girls track and field team finished first at the Raver Relays on Saturday at BHS. The Batesville boys team came in second.

On the girls’ side, the Bulldogs had 116 points; Jennings County came in second (91); Decatur Central placed third (62); Franklin County was fourth (42); Rushville placed fifth (24); Oldenburg Academy came sixth, and it was Tinsley in seventh (seven).

In the boys meet, Decatur Central came out on top (108); Batesville tallied 93 points; Jennings County was third (67); Rushville came in fourth (53); Franklin County finished fifth (42), OA held down the sixth spot (16), and Tinsley was seventh (four).

A total of seven meet records were broken at the event, which honors the memory of longtime Batesville track and field coach Ron Raver

The records that fell by the wayside were: Decatur Central’s Tolani Oluwaseyifumas in long jump with a jump of 16’3.25″; Jenning County’s Sprint Medley Relay with a time of 3:39.45, beating the old time of 3:51.31. The rest of the meet records came from Batesville including the boys 4 x 800m relay team of Cannon Clark, Cash Myers, Levi Essick and Griffin Koester with a time of 8:28.79, breaking the old record by 9 seconds; the boys 4 x 400m relay team of Cannon Clark, Cash Myers, Griffin Koester and James Rowland just beat the old record by .05 seconds with a time of 3:31.77.

Three girls meet records were broken.

The first was the 4 x 800m relay by almost 14 seconds with a time of 10:11.75 and consisted of Bayleigh Demaree, Jayla Bedel, Caitlin Raver and Ava Wade.  The same athletes broke the Distance Medley Relay record by over 30 seconds, running 13:14.56, and the girls 4 x 400m relay team of Bayleigh Demaree, Maycee Holtkamp, Ava Wade and Abby Miller broke the old mark by almost six seconds, with a time of 4:19.12.

Batesville had nine individual events receive first place medals and 16 personal records.

  • Camden Kaiser-shot put and discus
  • Reillee Adams-100m hurdles
  • Maycee Holtkamp-high jump
  • Girls 4 x 100m relay team of Reillee Adams, Isabel Meyer, Maycee Holtkamp and Abby Miller
  • Girls 4 x 200m relay team of Reillee Adams, Avi Miller, Maycee Holtkamp and Abby Miller

3rd place finishers were:

  • Gavin Britch-110 hurdles
  • Jade Martin-100 hurdles
  • Ella King-discus
  • Boys 4 x 100m relay of Tyler Mahone, Liam Wagner, Noah Davis and Gavin Britch
  • Boys Sprint Medley relay of Tyler Mahone, Gavin Britch, Liam Wagner, Levi Essick

4th places were:

  • Lukas Lovins-110m hurdles
  • Jeff Gerstbauer-discus
  • 4 x 100m relay of Zoe Martin, Leah Meyer, Camden Kaiser and Jeff Gerstbauer
  • Boys 4 x 200m relay of Tyler Mahone, Liam Wagner, Gavin Britch, Noah Davis

5th place finishers were:

  • Nick Tirado-high jump
  • Sydney Gilland-long jump
  • Emma Nobbe-pole vault
  • Boys 4 x 400m relay B-Squad of Caleb Harmeyer, Parker Oldham, Gage Sullivan and Miguel Nunez
  • Boys 4 x 800m relay B-Squad of Ryan Benz, Caleb Harmeyer, Miguel Nunez and Brody Gibson
  • Boys Distance Medley Relay B-Squad of Jaden Basler, Gage Sullivan, Varshath Rajesh and Ryan Benz

And finishing out the ribbon winners, in 6th place were:

  • Jade Martin-high jump
  • Leah Meyer-shot put
  • Jeff Gerstbauer-shot put
  • Boys Sprint Medley relay B-Squad of Kaden Lamping, Lukas Lovins, Nick Tirado, Santiago Mattallana
  • Girls 4 x 800m relay B-Squad of Rosie Gilland, Audrey Dieckmann, Aubree Spurlock and Jade Martin

And those running PR’s for the day were:

  • 4 x 400m splits-Bayleigh Demaree, Ava Wade, Cannon Clark, Caleb Harmeyer, Gage Sullivan

  • Boys and Girls 4 x 400m relay teams

“I want to thank all those that volunteered to help and everyone who made a donation (to the Ron Raver Scholarship Fund).  We had all of our events covered this year and other donations on top of that,” said Batesville coach Lisa Gausman.
