Bernita Andres

Bernita Weisbrodt Andres, 93 years old, of St. Leon, passed away on Saturday, October 12, 2019. Bernita loved to spend time with her family as often as she could. She loved to make crafts which included making her entire family Christmas ornaments to adorn their trees. She also shared her love of baking Christmas cookies with her family as well as her love for Christmas music. She loved her Christmas tree so much that her children decided to keep her tree up year-round and decorate it for every season. Bernita also loved being outside, whether it was counting the cars go by or watching the blue birds and hummingbirds. She was also a fan of the Andy Griffith Show, the Cincinnati Reds and in the last few years became a fan of pro wrestling and enjoyed watching it on TV. She was especially a fan of AJ Styles who was her favorite wrestler. Bernita loved her sweets and coffee, and in particular she had a sweet tooth for Krispy Kreme raspberry donuts. Bernita was a former member of Ladies Auxillary Post 464, a lifelong member of All Saints and enjoyed working the St. Leon’s Fireman’s Festival every year.
Bernita was married to Edgar for 53 years before he passed away in 2003. They were blessed with seven children Carol (Jim) Fox of St. Leon, Marie (Ray) Gunter of Batesville, Edgar Jr. (Connie) Andres of St. Leon, Geralyn (Urban) Brackman of Batesville, Gerard (Tonia) Andres of W. Harrison, Gerise (David) Short of Milan, and Tina Gerene (Mike) DiMeglio of New Alsace. After her third child, Bernita experienced several miscarriages and decided to devote her prayer life to St. Gerard, the Patron Saint of Pregnant Women. Miraculously, she was blessed with four more children, and in his honor named all four children after him. Bernita has left quite a legacy with 26 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her three brothers and four sisters. Bernita was blessed to always be surrounded by family and two people in particular went above and beyond to provide the care she needed. Daughter, Gerise, and granddaughter, Alisha, were Bernita’s main caregivers, dedicating the last several years to the love and support of Bernita. The family is forever grateful for your selflessness and compassion.
