Bernice “Boots” Belle (Bailey) Shake, age 94, passed away at Aspen Place in Greensburg on Monday December 11, 2023. She was born on October 8, 1929 in Indianapolis, Indiana, the daughter of the late Earl and Hazel Belle (Kent) Bailey.
Early on she would meet the love of her life Ernest Shake, they were united in marriage and began their family. They celebrated their 55 anniversary prior to Ernest’s death in 2003. The bulk of their years were spent living in Indianapolis, while after their retirement they moved to North Vernon. Bernice was employed for over 20 years with RCA Music Service.
Bernice enjoyed life and providing a smile to those around her. She always had a great sense of humor and even did the on stage act of Al Jolson around Indianapolis. She gave time to be help with the local Girl Scout and Brownies Clubs. She was always up for a good game of cards, playing countless games with her children growing up.
She will be dearly missed by her daughters Roberta (Paul) Burress of Greenwood and Deborah (Ron) Powers of Napoleon, 7 Grandchildren, 13 Great, and 8 great-great. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ernest, son Gary, brothers Conrad Bailey and Jack Bailey, sisters Ruth Toole and Mildred Bailey, grandson Rodney, and great-great Grandson Mitchell.
Visitation will be held on Thursday December 14, 2023 from 1-3 pm., at Neal’s Funeral Home in Osgood. Funeral Services will be held at 3 pm., also at the funeral home.
