Benjamin Eric Lamkin, 46, of Rising Sun, IN passed away peacefully on October 14, 2023, after a brief illness, at St. Elizabeth-Dearborn. Ben was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on October 6, 1977. He is the son of Robert Dean Lamkin and the late Vickie Kay Lamkin (Wadsworth). Ben grew up in Rising Sun and graduated from RSHS, class of 1996. He loved music, playing the drums, marching band, and muscle cars. Ben was a passionate sports fan and especially loved cheering on his favorite teams, the Cincinnati Bengals, and Reds.
Ben’s greatest source of joy was his three children and extended family. Ben is survived by his daughters Meghan Kay Lamkin (Muncie, IN), and Isabella Jean Lamkin (Rising Sun, IN) and son Dalton Robert Lamkin (Rising Sun, IN), his Dad and Step-mom Robert Dean Lamkin (Heidi) of Rising Sun, IN, sister Rebecca Dilts (Josh) of Patriot, IN and Step-brother Dylan Wyatt of Mason, OH. Step-grandparents; Lou Wadsworth (Reiman) of Rising Sun, IN, and Coert and Kit Voorhees of Omaha, NE. Numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends. Ben is preceded in death by his mother Vickie Lamkin (Wadsworth), his paternal grandparents Robert and Velma Jean Lamkin, and his maternal grandparents Bob and Jean Wadsworth.
We all will remember him for his big heart, huge smile, and gentle ways. He was our “Gentle Ben”.
Funeral services will be at 1 PM, Saturday, October 21st at Markland Funeral Home in Rising Sun, IN. Visitation will be from 11 AM-1 PM, Saturday, October 21st at Markland Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the family for the benefit of children; checks made payable to Robert D. Lamkin.
