(Batesville, IN) – Planning has officially begun for Batesville’s celebration of America’s 250th anniversary and the 2026 Fourth of July weekend.

The first kickoff meeting was held on November 24, where residents shared ideas and began shaping what this milestone event could look like for our community (pictured).

Two additional meetings are scheduled to give citizens more opportunities to join the planning effort:

December 11
11:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m.
Batesville Memorial Public Library – Meeting Rooms A & B

January 7
5:30–6:30 p.m.
Batesville Memorial Public Library – Meeting Rooms A & B

Everyone who’d like to be involved is encouraged to attend.

The celebration will include a wide range of activities, shaped by what residents have requested over the past two years.

Fireworks, a parade, kids’ activities, music, historic elements, pool events, and an outdoor picnic are among the ideas being explored.

Several subcommittees are forming to help bring these plans to life, and there are opportunities for all interests and schedules.

If you have an idea you’d like to see included—or if you want to help with one of the existing subcommittees—you’re encouraged to get involved.

Residents who want to be part of the planning can attend one of the upcoming meetings or reach out directly to share their interest.
