Batesville Swim Team Wraps Up Season

The Batesville High School girls’ swim team made waves at the IHSAA Sectional Championship at Columbus North, competing in 25 preliminary swims and advancing eight to the final night. Among those, five qualified for the consolation finals, while three fought for podium spots.

“These girls put in so much time and effort over the entire course of the season. To finish 9th is a testament to them,” said Coach McMullen. “One of the brightest moments on the night wasn’t a particular swim but seeing how much they supported and cheered for one another. And to top off the meet with a school record, that’s just icing on the cake.”

Senior Sarah Bedel led the charge, breaking the school record in the 100 breaststroke with a fourth-place finish. Seniors Isabel Raab and Cora Miller also posted strong individual performances.

Eight of the 11 Batesville swimmers scored on the night, with several earning points in the sectional format for the first time.

“Coach Howard and I are proud of the way they carried themselves all season long and for their hard work and dedication to the sport,” McMullen added. “We look forward to working with them over the summer and seeing how our next season unfolds.”

The coaching staff also extended gratitude to the seniors for their dedication to Batesville Swimming over the past four years.
