BATESVILLE, IN — The Batesville Planning Commission voted in favor of updated ordinances and zoning code maps during a special meeting Thursday night in the Batesville Middle School Commons.

Key elements of the new rules include establishing downtown as a destination district, easier understanding language, being more user-friendly, and establishing an enforcement mechanism to handle violations.

The new updated manual and zoning map can be viewed on the city’s website batesvilleindiana.us

The planning commission’s approval came after a presentation by HWC Engineering staff members who acted as consultants on the year-long project, as well as a question and answer session and discussion.

The recommendation is being sent to Batesville City Council for consideration at its August 8 meeting.
