(Batesville, IN) – The 74th annual National Day of Prayer was observed across the country on Thursday.
Locally, the 21st annual Batesville Community Prayer Breakfast took place at the Knights of Columbus Hall.
After Batesville Kiwanis President Tricia Fasbinder welcomed attendees and Mayor John Irrgang made remarks, Fr. John Barker, the pastor at Holy Family Catholic Church in Oldenburg, delivered the message, which reflected the theme based on Romans 15:13: “Pour out to the hope of God and be filled.”
“I felt like he really resonated with the theme and talked about hope in our community, and our family, which in our small town is really important to us,” Fasbinder said. “He talked about how important it is to not let fear overcome, but to hope in God.”
Entertainment was provided by the Oldenburg Academy Singers, under the direction of Brian Knueven.
The prayer breakfast is sponsored by the City of Batesville, the Southeastern Indiana YMCA, and the Batesville Kiwanis, Lions, and Rotary clubs.
