The following are unedited recaps from local coaches…

Batesville’s Lisa Gausman: Congratulations to both the boys and girls Batesville High School Cross Country teams as they were crowned Conference Champions this morning.

After a little bit of a delay to let the rain go through, the Eastern Indiana Athletic Conference race was held on Batesville’s home course with the boys stepping up to the line at 10:45. Although the course had some pretty wet spots, the temperature was the best it has been all season and many took advantage of it. The top 15 of each race was named to the All-Conference Team and the Bulldogs had 5 boys and 6 girls achieve this honor with Batesville’s Benjamin Moster being named the boys MVP as he was the Champion of the boys race with a time of 16:40.

Ean Loichinger was right behind him in 2nd, followed by freshman Jake Chapman and Daren Smith in 5th and 6th. Kyler Daulton was the 5th individual boy to be named to the All-Conference team coming through in 10th place.

The boys outraced the rest of the school winning by 31 points having a low score of 24 points. The two other varsity runners for the Bulldogs were Will Nuhring and Benjamin Adams. The top 5 teams were: Lawrenceburg in 5th at 138, Greensburg, 4th with 102, East Central came in 3rd at 73, Rushville was the Conference Runner-up with 55 points and Batesville had 24. Rushville had 4 boys, East Central and Greensburg 2 boys and Connersville and Lawrenceburg 1 boy to make the All Conference Team.

On the girls side, the Bulldogs had 6 of the 7 varsity runners in the top 10 and all of them in the top 20. East Central’s Rachel Campbell was the EIAC MVP coming through the line first in 20:02.

Batesville’s Lily Pinckley was Conference Runner up and was followed by a nice pack of her teammates as the Bulldogs took the next 4 spots. Coming in 3rd-6th were: Kaylynn Bedel, Megan Allgeier, Ava Hanson and Maria Lopez respectively. Sophie Myers was the 6th Bulldog to make the All Conference team racing through in 8th place. Madison Rahschulte just missed the top 15 as she was 18th.

With that nice pack, Batesville had a very low score of 20 points beating East Central by 18 as they earned Conference Runner-up honors with 38 points. Finishing out the top 5 teams were Greensburg, 3rd at 89, Rushville was 4th with 104 and South Dearborn, 5th with 142. East Central also had 6 girls in the top 15 to be named to the All-Conference Team. Capturing the other 3 spots were Greensburg with 2 and Rushville-1. Congratulations everyone!

Despite the wet conditions and soggy course (usually not too many PR’s happen with these conditions) Batesville did have a few run personal bests. Congratulations to Jake Chapman, Benjamin Adams and Isabel Raab for achieving PR’s today!

She ran 26:16 while junior Kylee Simpson finished in 28:58.

Franklin County’s Stacey Nobbe: Freshman, Esther George, was just seconds off of her best time at the EIAC Conference despite the wet, and sometimes muddy, conditions on the course due to the recent rain prior to the race. She finished in 22nd place with a time of 23:35. Senior, Katherine Apsley, had her best time of the season, but is still chasing her career PR. She finished in 33rd place with a time of 25:33. The Franklin County Boys Varsity cross country finished in 6th place at the EIAC conference on Saturday, September 25th. They tied with Lawrenceburg, but Lawrenceburg’s number 7 runner broke the tie, giving them 5th place.
