(Batesville, IN) – Batesville City Council approved interlocal city court agreements with the towns of Oldenburg, Sunman and Milan this week.
The interlocal agreement primarily pertains to how court costs, fees and other financial items are split between the city, the court and the town where a violation has occurred.
City Attorney Blaine Timonera says council’s action is in line with Judge Jenna Rohrig’s efforts to modernize the city court.
The court’s fees, fine amounts and costs can be found online, and the service provider asks for updated interlocal agreements.
Timonera says Judge Rohrig noticed those agreements hadn’t been updated since 2018, which prompted council to take up the matter.
The Oldenburg, Sunman and Milan town boards are expected to act on their respective interlocal agreements soon.
