Aurora man arrested on shoplifting charges

batesville-policeBATESVILLE, Ind. — An Aurora man was arrested after police say he shoplifted from Gillman Home Center in Batesville.

The suspect was identified as Gregory E Ahaus, 33, of Aurora.

Batesville Police received a call from Gillman Home Center, stating that a shoplifter ran out of the store and was headed east.

Batesville Police along with Indiana State Excise Police and the Ripley County Sheriff’s Department responded, and located the suspect in a field just north of the business.

Store employees had followed the suspect and identified him to police.

After a brief foot chase, the suspect entered a home near the store.

Officers entered the home and quickly apprehended the suspect inside.

Ahaus was arrested on an active warrant out of Dearborn County and will face additional criminal charges in Ripley County.
