Audrey Joan (Thayer) Teaney, 91, of Aurora passed away Monday, July 7, 2025, at Ripley Crossing. Audrey was born on Monday, October 30, 1933, in Benham, Indiana; daughter of James and Flo (Hall) Thayer. Audrey married Earl Teaney on February 6, 1951, and he preceded her in death on January 29, 2012. She worked as a waitress at the health resort, worked for the housing authority in Greendale, sold Mary Kay cosmetics for 7 years, and also owned Maple Leaf Restaurant in Dillsboro. She loved music and played the organ and piano at Hopewell Presbyterian Church, Church of Christ, and First United Methodist Church of Aurora. Audrey taught Bible School, Community School, and Sunday School for 17 years and was also a former member of Eastern Star of Dillsboro. Audrey was very creative and enjoyed doing several hobbies such as: basketweaving, ceramics, painting, drawing, crocheting, and writing. She also loved to do a lot of cooking and baking. She was also a very caring person and cared for many people. Most of all Audrey loved to spend time with her family.
Audrey will be missed by her daughter Carla Blair of Aurora; son Michael (Nola) Teaney of Aurora; 4 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 3 nieces; and 8 nephews.
Audrey was preceded in death by her husband Earl Teaney; infant son Harold Teaney; son Jerry (Rhonda) Teaney; sisters Vivian Elder and Lavern Thayer; and brothers Charles Thayer and Delmar Thayer.
Family and friends may gather in remembering Audrey from 5:00-7:00 PM, Thursday, July 10, 2025, at Milan United Methodist Church: 306 S Main St, Milan, IN 47031. Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, July 11, 2025, at Milan United Methodist Church with Pastor LaJo Dunbar officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery in Aurora. Memorials may be given in honor of Audrey to Milan United Methodist Church. A meal will be served after the graveside service in the church fellowship hall.
