(Batesville, IN) – A sign is posted at the corner of Walnut and Schrader streets, touting the site of the future Batesville Memorial Public Library (BMPL) Arts and Innovation Hub.

Batesville City Council approved the multi-million-dollar project in November.

“We are building a resource for our community that very few cities like ours will be able to equal” said BMPL Director Kim Porter.

Porter says, when completed, the Arts and Innovation Hub will be a center of lifelong learning, with expanded meeting space for organizations, an area for family visitations and supervised visits, audio/video production facilities, a maker’s space, and they’ll partner with local schools to enhance arts and STEM education.

Bonds are expected to be issued later this year, with construction on the estimated 8,000-square-foot facility to begin in 2025.
