Animal gets into substation, causes large power outage in Greensburg area

DECATUR COUNTY, IN — A large number of Decatur County REMC members in the Greensburg area were in the dark for about an hour late Thursday morning when an animal got into the Washington Substation.

The animal of undisclosed species caused a couple of fuses to blow and caused some infrastructure damage.

The power cooperative warned members to expect a lengthy outage, but crews were able to quickly assess the situation, make repairs and restore power.
