Alvin Lee Manlief, 89 of North Vernon

Alvin Lee Manlief, 89, of North Vernon, passed away at 6:40 a.m. on Tuesday, March 26, 2024 at Majestic Care of North Vernon. He was born on April 10, 1934 in Jennings County, Indiana the son of Clinton Clyde and Mary Elizabeth (Shoemake) Manlief. Alvin was a lifelong resident of Jennings County and was a farmer. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, farming and family gatherings. He was a veteran having served in the U. S. Army. He married Norma Jane Combs on July 28, 1992 in Sevierville, Tennessee. She survives along with his daughters, Laura Manlief Miller of North Vernon and Rachel Dawn Manlief of Columbus; his son, Jared William Robbins of Nashville, Indiana; 5 grandchildren, Lauri Jane Ritchie of Butlerville, Candice Rae Davidson of Westport, Hannah Rachelle Manlief of Columbus, Briar Robbins and Jessop Robbins both of Nashville, Indiana; 6 great grandchildren, Lydia Ritchie and Kaydee Rae Ritchie both of Butlervile, Logan Ray Borntreger of Scipio, Ayden Rayne Boyd of North Vernon, Stevie Sue Jones of Westport and Mallory Elizabeth Schmaus of North Vernon and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Steven Ray Manlief; grandson, Nikolaus Edward Schmaus; sisters, Martha E. Fonseth, Barbara M. Schwering, Clara Agnes Manlief, Dorothy Mae Miller and Betty Rogers; brothers, Ray Emerson Manlief and Roy Alfred Manlief. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, April 1, 2024 at Bass & Gasper Funeral Home in Westport with Rev. Dale Boyd officiating. Burial will follow at the Westport Cemetery with Military graveside rites. A time of visitation will be will be held on Monday, April 1, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
