Alice Mae (Evans) Craig, 80, of Rising Sun, IN, passed away on Friday, June 13th, 2025 at St. Elizabeth Dearborn Hospital in Lawrenceburg, IN. Alice was born in Patriot, IN on February 19, 1945, a daughter of the late Mildred Fern (Myers) Evans Etherton and James William Evans. Alice grew up in Switzerland County and was a graduate of Patriot High School, Class of 1963. Alice married Carroll Ray Craig on May 22, 1965 at the Rising Sun United Methodist Church. Alice and Carroll were married over 51 years until his passing on September 13, 2016. Alice retired from Comair Airlines where she worked as a flight attendant. It was there she made many lasting friendships and was known as being so lovely and kind. She was previously employed at Schenley Distillery in Greendale, IN until its closing in 1987. Alice truly enjoyed interacting with people throughout her career. Alice attended the Rising Sun Church of Christ and was also a longtime member of the Greendale Baptist Church and Florence Baptist Temple. Her faith was unwavering and she was very active in the church, especially with activities that involved children. Alice was a gifted writer. She wrote and published 3 children’s books based on Christian faith. Some of the proceeds from her books were donated to the Southeastern Baptist Youth Camp in Greensburg, IN to help pay for their new pool. She was a loving mother and doting grandmother. Alice attended every sporting event and activity her grandchildren were participating in that she could. She was very proud of her family’s accomplishments.
Alice is survived by her children; son, Sean Craig, Burlington, KY and daughter, Kelly Armstrong and husband Kevin, of Rising Sun, IN; by her grandchildren: Jared Craig (Lexi Baumeyer) of Oakley, OH and Austin Armstrong (Morgan), of Rising Sun, IN, and Lydia Armstrong-De La Vega (Luis) of Rising Sun, IN and by great grandchildren: Barrett Lane & Briggs Hartley Armstrong. Alice is also survived by two sisters, Hazel Huffner, of Rising Sun, IN and Donna Eisenmann (Dave), of Rising Sun, IN; by her brother, Bill Evans, of Rising Sun, IN and by many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Carroll and by her loving sister, Wilma Beach.
Funeral services will be 12:00 PM, Friday, June 20th, 2025 at Markland Funeral Home in Rising Sun, IN. Visitation will be held 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Friday, June 20th at Markland Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Rising Sun Church of Christ or the Rising Sun Fire Department.
