Accident involving semi causes house fire

Burney, IN—The Burney Clay Township Volunteer Fire Department with assistance from Greensburg Fire Department, Hartsville Volunteer Fire Department, and Letts Volunteer Fire Department responded to a vehicle accident and house fire in Burney Monday. 

Around 4 pm Monday, a semi was driving through Burney when a car pulled out in the path of the semi, causing the semi to jackknife.  Officials say that a spark caused the fuel tank to catch fire during the jackknife and the semi slid into a nearby home causing it to be engulfed in flames.  There were two occupants in the home at the time of the fire.  

One person was lifelined to Indianapolis with back pain, while the driver had minor injuries, as well as two occupants in the home, that drove themselves to Decatur County Memorial Hospital.
