BATESVILLE, IN — Artist Yulia Avgustinovich has spent this week in Batesville working on her mural on the southeast corner of Walnut Street near George Street.
The mural – titled “A Tale of Our Town” – is one of two public art installations that are part of the National Endowment for the Arts-Our Town Grant, which was awarded in 2018 following a collaboration between the Batesville Area Arts Council and Batesville Main Street. The local program is called HeART & Soul of Downtown Batesville. The project was put on hold for a year because of COVID.
The second public art installation that will soon be unveiled will be the Hillrom Training Center Clock Tower project on Main Street. Local artists Chaz Kaiser and Andrea Grimsley are expected to install that public art piece within the next week.
Avgustinovich, who is a resident of Lakewood, Colorado, has been working on the mural at Walnut and George since January.
